The story of Jones Guitars

Just over 15 years ago an unemployed enthusiastic youth had the idea of producing a better sounding guitar than the Japanese factory guitar he had.

The sound of this first guitar was enough to get him hooked, he lived and breathed guitar making, playing and surfing, & after a year, an opportunity came to take out a loan with his brother and purchase timbers, machinery and equipment from couthard guitars who were closing down, and thus mimburi guitars was formed, which included Andrew and Gary Jones, brothers with a keen interest in music asthestics and a thirst for knowledge.

Mimburi produced mostly guitars and mandolins of a very high standard and are being played in Australia and around the world. Two years and 25 instruments later Minburi channeled its energy into the esoteric field and changed direction. After heading north then south and west on this planet I finally arrived on Sydney NSW, and by the way my brother Gary is still out there somewhere.

Not to bore you with my total life history I have been producing guitars and mandolins for the last 10 years as well as running a Building Information Center in western Sydney.

During 1999 a name change to JONES GUITARS occurred but the sound has not been compromised in fact the instruments that come out of the workshop now are the best sounding guitars I have ever made.

JONES GUITARS are different to Mimburi guitars in some subtle ways the bridge piece is unique for sound transmission, brass nuts are hand made and designed for each guitar, mother of pearl and pauwa shell inlays are also unique.

I invite you to try a JONES GUITAR and hear for your self and to share your comments.
